We love God, make disciples and plant churches

THE SCRIPTURE: The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. It was uniquely, verbally, and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and was written without error in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in faith and life in every age.

GOD: There is but one God, infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness and love, the Creator of the universe, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-each of whom possesses all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.

JESUS CHRIST: God the Father, by His own choice and out of love for sinful men and women, sent Jesus Christ into the world to reconcile sinners to Himself. Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He was God in the flesh, both true God and true man. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and voluntarily suffered and died as our substitute to pay the penalty for our sins, thus satisfying God’s justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He bodily ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, makes intercession for His own. He will return to earth personally, visibly and bodily to judge all men and establish His kingdom.

THE HOLY SPIRIT: The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ, to convict men and women of their sins, and to impart new life to all who place their faith in Christ. He indwells believers from the moment of spiritual birth, seals them until the day of redemption, allots spiritual gifts to them for ministry, and empowers them to live a life pleasing to God.

MAN: God created man in His own image, and man, as he was originally created, was innocent before God. But man chose to sin by disobeying God, and therefore was alienated from his Creator and came under divine condemnation. Thus all human beings are born with a corrupted nature and without spiritual life, and are totally incapable of pleasing God in and of themselves.

SALVATION: Men and women are freed from the penalty for their sins not as a result, in whole or in part of their own works, goodness or religious ceremony, but by the undeserved favor of God alone. God declares righteous all who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation.

ASSURANCE: All who are born again of the Spirit can, through the sure promises of God, be fully assured of eternal life from the very moment they put their faith in Christ. This assurance is not based upon any kind of human merit, but upon the finished work of Christ, who completely paid for their sins and upon the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who is the deposit guaranteeing their inheritance.

THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD: At physical death, the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his or her body to everlasting glory and blessing. At physical death, the unbeliever enters immediately into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his or her body to everlasting suffering, judgment and condemnation.

FUTURE EVENTS: The Lord Jesus Christ will move his church to heaven before the tribulation. At the end of the seven year period, he will return to the earth - in the flesh, visibly and personally - to establish his thousand year reign which comes before the creation of the new heaven and earth.

ANGELS: Angels are created spiritual beings. There are two different types of angels: those that have not fallen, that serve God to accomplish his purposes and serve as well to the benefit of the believers; and there are the fallen angels, that is Satan and his demons, that oppose God but were conquered by Jesus Christ on the cross. For that they will meet their end in the lake of fire. Satan and his demons also actively oppose the work of the church and the spiritual vitality of Christians.

BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER: Jesus Christ has instructed those who believe in Him to be baptized in water as a symbol of their new birth in Christ. Baptism is only for those who have personally believed in Christ. Our practice is to baptize by immersion. The Lord also instituted the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of His suffering, death and resurrection. Neither baptism nor the Lord’s Supper have any merit in helping a person obtain eternal life.

THE CHURCH: All true believers make up the church worldwide and should assemble together in local churches for worship, prayer, fellowship and teaching to become conformed to the image of Christ and to become equipped to carry out the Great Commission that Christ gave His followers in Matthew 28:19-20.

"GO EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD AND TELL THE GOOD NEWS TO EVERYONE.”
Mark 16:15

  • The highlight of my trip was definitely meeting all of these amazing people. Everyone I spoke with was so kind and caring and I could feel the love within the community. It was a pleasure to serve these people while I was there and they impacted my life without even trying.

  • I'm really thankful and humbled to have been part of such a great team. Really got the chance to bond and learn with a close-knit community of believers. I got to see firsthand God's love here in El Salvador.

  • During my week in San Salvador, I was amazed to see God moving among the children at the CDI and among their parents. I am so grateful that God used me and my team to partner with the local church in San Sal; what they do on a regular basis is truly an example of the body of Christ at work to bring His Kingdom here. What I take away from this trip is the knowledge that God bonds people and builds friendships across different cultures and languages to serve Him and show His love.

  • I’m grateful to God for everything that He has done during this week in El Salvador. My eyes were opened even more this time at the power of God’s word.  Having the opportunity to share God’s word, love, and hope to people was incredible.  Thank you to the GCLA church and the staff for the hospitality.  It’s an honor to serve with you.

  • After my first trip to El Salvador in 2015, I knew I wanted to come back. A lot was familiar but the experience was all new. This trip allowed me to soak up even more of the beautiful sites, love for the people and witness the works of the Lord. It was also extra special because I got to share this experience with my mom. My heart once again was touch by everyone I have met and will be a part of my heart forever. I look forward my future 3rd trip back.

  • Words cannot express the joy I got to experience in El Salvador. Seeing how much the teens were able to come out of their comfort zones and step up when it was needed made me so proud of them. Seeing a little old man Emilio who had nothing to give, give the one thing he could by washing my hands for me to get the paint off just took me aback. God really blessed me to be able to go and love on the kids who loved on us.

  • Before coming to San Salvador I didn’t know what to expect. We all tend to have such specific images of something. I feel as if God was keeping my mind clear to new views of the world. As I encountered my first missions trip and plane ride, I can definitely say I’d do it again in a heartbeat! God has worked in me through so many precious lives. God is a miraculous worker and does many great things. God has fixed my eyes on so many more wonderful creations of His. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with and I now can’t wait to see the next trip God will send me on!

  • Spending my spring break in El Salvador was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was humbled by the friendliness, cheerfulness, work ethic, and loving nature of all of the people I met. The Holy Spirit was definitely present all week, as I witnessed my team bring multiple people to Christ and move further along in their faith. This trip was very rewarding and it allowed me to improve my walk with the Lord. I can't wait to come back!

  • I had such an amazing time with the kids at Soyapango and the Volcano. It really opened my eyes to see how much God is blessing the people of San Salvador.

  • This was my third trip here, and I was once again amazed and awed to see God moving and at work. God is blessing all the IGC ministries here - the children's centers, the high school outreach, and the church itself. It is a privilege (and humbling) to come serve with such great servants, and it was fun to introduce a new group of missionaries to El Salvador. Thank you God for another great trip!

  • I had two favorite parts of this trip. The first was when we went to the park near Iglesia Gran Comision and talked to anyone and everyone about Jesus. People were so much more open to discuss their faith than people are in the United States. My other favorite was at the end of the week when I was able to baptize my roommate! I cannot wait to see in a year how much Christ will grow him.

  • The entire staff of Great Commission Church did an amazing job for our team - I was impressed! They have very capable leaders in the church - especially Pastor Victor and Silvia - Keep up the good work!

  • The local team in El Salvador made us feel so welcome that it became very easy to connect and relate with their community as a whole. Their easy-going attitude and openness with their real lives made their home feel like ours for a week, and helped me to see my own home with new eyes.

  • I had every intention of going to El Salvador to tell a bunch of people about Jesus and change their lives. It turns out the people that I had the pleasure of meeting on my trip blessed me immensely more than I could have ever blessed them - their faith is huge, their love is genuine and their joy is contagious. God is undeniably doing incredible work through the Great Commission Church and the Children's Development Centers. It was a honor to serve alongside the local team and be a witness to it all!

  • To see what has been done in El Salvador in Soyapango and Guayabo in such a short time is amazing. One my favorite parts of the mission trip was getting the chance to visit some of the homes and sharing my testimony and tell them the reason we traveled so far to their country - to share God's love with them and how much that meant to us. So much work has been done but there still is so much more to do and many more hearts to reach for Christ. My heart will always be there and I look forward to coming back again.

  • Before the trip, I was skeptical on the impact a mission trip could really have. I thought that maybe the funds we raised could be used in a much more constructive way to help the very same people we were visiting. But, after spending only a week working for the church and for God's kingdom, I saw that I was very wrong. Our team seemed to leave a positive impact on those that we met, but it also influenced each person on our team to grow closer to each other and to Christ.

  • This is my 9th year with Total Health and doing medical missions. Overall the experience continues to be a HUGE blessing, especially being able to serve all the people and to experience their appreciation for the medical team and evangelism. We are changing the lives of these people - temporarily (medical) and eternally (spiritual).

Adriana is a fantastic leader and translator that really contributed greatly to fulfilling our mission and purpose. Ashley and Ali were also awesome to work with. As well, Pastor Victor and the local doctors (Inri and Valencia) and all the staff and workers who helped the entire week were fantastic. It is an example of God's work and love for His people."

  • I really enjoyed my time at the two CDC’s.  I had previously been to the Volcano and seeing some of the same kids was a real treat.  It was also amazing to see the progress with the center development.  The playground and administrative building were impressive. Also, seeing the new CDC in Soyapango was great.  The kids there really seemed to appreciate the opportunity at the CDC.  They also welcomed us with open arms. We had an opportunity to spend time with some of the parents and it was amazing to hear their testimonies.
I look forward to coming back. I hope to make this an annual trip.

  • I feel at home when I’m in Central America. And leaving this trip, leaving the kids, just broke my heart. During journaling one night, I wrote, “The kids here need me more than the kids {I teach} back home.” God was pushing that mindset on my heart all week. So when I think about what my purpose on that trip was, I think that it was God clarifying to me that I’m not done in Central America.

  • I have never felt so much like I was with family on a mission trip. The local team was passionate and focused on the specific needs of their community and I was so humbled and blessed to be part of "the family" for a week.

  • Going on the trip got me out of my comfort zone and brought me closer to Christ. Not only was I able to be a missionary in El Salvador, but I am now also able to be a missionary back in my school as well. When someone asks, "Hey, where have you been for a week," it's a great opportunity to share the gospel with them.

  • I love seeing the power of the gospel transcend all language, cultural, and national barriers. It’s been my joy to team up with the San Salvador church in both service and ministry. Working together, I truly see God’s heart for the nations, and I’m challenged to stay on mission when I return home.

MEDICAL + DENTAL CLINICS

“I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”
3 JOHN 1V2

  • For many of the people in the Volcano community, visiting a doctor is an event reserved for serious emergencies. There are no doctor’s offices on the Volcano, and certainly no hospitals. If they can make it down the mountain to see a doctor, the only care available to them is the free, low-quality healthcare system. The community surrounding our Development Center in Soyapango is also one of immense poverty, and although doctors are more accessible, they are certainly not affordable.

With the help of Total Health and many supporters around the world, the Volcano and Soyapango communities are able to receive quality healthcare and dental care from licensed doctors. The cost is free for children enrolled in the Children’s Development Center and costs less than $2 for the people of the community.

  • Because quality healthcare is so limited to the people of the Volcano and Soyapango, many health problems so untreated for days, weeks, or even longer. Issues such as breathing problems, diabetes and dental problems, left unattended can end up causing children and adults a lifetime of pain and physical suffering. The dentists and Total Health Medical doctors work everyday to treat the communities’ illnesses and provide permanent healing. The people now know that they have a safe and affective place to turn when they or their family needs help.

  • Many illnesses and health complications of the Volcano and Soyapango communities could be prevented if the people had access to simple preventative care and education. Because of the Total Health Medical Clinic and Dental Clinic, the people are now learning how to keep themselves and their families healthy. Doctors teach personal hygiene and dental hygiene to both children and parents. With their help, the community’s health is consistently improving!

  • The Dentists and Total Health doctors are able to fill the pharmacies at our Development Centers with life changing medications. The shelves are stocked with pain relievers, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and the like. These are medications that before the development of the clinics were virtually unavailable to impoverished communities such as those on the Volcano and in Soyapango. Now, they are available, affordable, and come with personal explanations of how to use them and what to expect.

  • The only reason that the dentists and Total Health doctors are able to do any good for the people of El Salvador is because above all, Jesus is our Great Healer. We read in Exodus 15v26 that God is “Yahweh, the One that heals you.” When sicknesses are outside the abilities of our doctors, the people are given hope for not only earthly, physical healing, but hope for a complete restoration of their bodies in eternity with Jesus. Whether we see healing this side of Heaven or not, we can be assured Jesus wil wipe away every tear and with Him, there will be no suffering. HALLELUJAH!

2017 PROJECTS

As you look around one or both of our Children’s Development Centers in Guayabo and Soyapango, it can be tempting to think our work here is done.

Not at all.

Quite the contrary – we still have so much we want to do at both of our Centers. We have visions of computer centers, dental clinics, trade schools…the list goes on. As long as God continues to provide resources, we will continue providing dreams for the people of El Salvador.
